ALGONQUIN ARCHERS NEWSLETTER
The
job of cleaning up storm damage at the club, isn't over yet. It was reported at
the December meeting that about one-quarter of the trails have been cleared. We
want to save and use as much of the wood as is practical. Unfortunately the quad
is in need of repair at this time and it was suggested that any cut wood should
be piled in place and be moved to the wood shed next spring/summer. Depending on
weather conditions, we could have a January work party to split wood. Anyone
interested in getting in some work time should contact Dave Wilkinson who will
then provide the splitter, (203-723-0397).
The
bowing league will re-start on Thursdays @ 6:30PM in January. There is no fee
for this league, c'mon out and have fun. For details contact Dave Wilkinson, (203-723-0397).
The
game dinner committee is looking for more venison. We are lacking the volume of
meat we've had in previous seasons. As most hunters already know, deer have been
more nocturnal this season and are seldom seen during hunting hours. Also needed
is fish, for soup, which has been enjoyed at previous dinners. George York says
he has plenty of freezer space available and wants any venison ribs, which he is
eager to prepare for the game dinner,(860-274-5058).
On January 8th 4pm
there will be a meeting of everyone/anyone interested in working the game
dinner. A butchering work party for the game dinner will be January 8th,
at the clubhouse. Please contact Mike O'Connor to confirm the start time,(mikebowman1956@aol.com)
The
indoor range will be closed both, January 8th during
the hours of the butchering party and the game dinner workers meeting and
February 3rd(dinner
set-up) and
4th.
Also the indoor range will be closed March 9th and
10th for
a class to be taught by Terry Wunderle. For details/registration for this class,
please contact Sean Roberts, 203-509-9668 or Seagles59@aol.com.
The
January monthly meeting will be on Sunday, January 1st, 4:00
pm. At that time the remainder of the game dinner tickets will be sold and no
longer reserved for members.
Due
to an EMERGENCY REPAIR, the gate lock is securing the clubhouse door and the
combination is the same as it was on the gate. A full repair is coming soon.
